Chemnitz "Hilbersdorf"
The area of Chemnitz is mostly known for fossilized wood (petrified wood), especially the source at Hilbersdorf. But also some simple thundereggs are coming from there.
Döhlener Becken
Freital and Grumbach (Fleischerei/ butchery) belong to the area of the Döhlener Becken, maybe also the location at Meißen. The Schmiedeberg is south of
that area, and can be sorted to it as well.
But the whole area seems to have porphyr in the underground. Literature about the area describes finds on the fields but most of them contain loess, so finds are pretty difficult. Construction works like in Grumbach can be more successfull but at this site for example only mudballs were found.
Dippoldiswalde "Schmiedeberg"

The source of the Schmiedeberg near Dippoldiswalde is a solitary source of porphyr in southern Saxony. The material is often not filled (mudballs) or with cavities of quartz or other mineralizations.
The area is on the other side of Altenberg (somtimes they are named Altenberg thundereggs) at the Geisingberg.
Meßen - Seilitz
The location of Meißen - Seilitz is also a kaolin-plant, but not in the same area as the Kemmlitz ones, more to the east near to the Elbe river.
Riesa area
The gravel pits near Riesa usually have a lot of Elbe agate from mainly the Bohemian massif. Sometimes you can find even thundereggs, but the origin of these is really unknown to me.

Zwickau area
The locations of the Zwickau area are alltogether from construction works and now extinct.
Zwickau-Planitz

That's my little "extraterrestrial friend" from the site Zwickau-Planitz. The pattern is quite usual but the matrix is brown and not greenish bown. The shape of the filling is typical.
The typical matrix for Zwickau-Planitz is greenish-brown and the fillings are often pseudomorph. Some thundereggs show a large filling typical for a special layer of the rhyolite.

Zwickau-Schedewitz

Another now extinct location in Zwickau is an old construction work in the suburb of Schedewitz. The lithophysae are more stretched, not round like in Planitz. This egg shows some nice level banding and a complete but rare matrix.
