The finding area is mainly located on the Empire Valley Ranch. The Black Dome thunderegg can be found south of 'Black Dome', that means southwest of Gang Ranch in the Cariboo District. The geology is mainly rhyolithic but also dacitic tuff, breccia and flows. The vulcanic activities had been in the Eocene and in younger periods.

 

This specimen shows some broad level banding and a typical nice shell pattern.

The thundereggs of Haida Gwaii are pretty rare but also quite unique. The shell is greyish in color and full of sparkles. Thisone shows some nice water level filling with whie opal too.

The Agate Mine of Mount Lyall (Mine d'Agates du Mont Lyall) is located on the  Gaspé peninsula south to lake Sainte-Anne. The geology is a vulcanic outcrop of about 350 MYA which produced agate, amethyst, quartz, carnelian and jasper.
